The Paint-It-Forward award goes to the painting contractor who has demonstrated grace, giving and selfless acts of kindness for the betterment of the less fortunate.
While attending the annual PCA Expo in Albuquerque, the team at Headwaters Painting was so honored to have been nominated by their Industry peers. It awarded the 2023 PCA – Painting Contractor Association “Humanitarian Award” for their Paint-It-Forward Project here in St. Paul, MN.
Thanks to the power of Social Media, Headwaters Painting was connected to “Dr. D” from the Irreducible Grace Foundation and organized a large interior painting project for the Black Youth Healing Arts Center in St. Paul, MN in December of 2022. The purpose of the MN-based Foundation, and Center, is to create safe spaces and healing opportunities with youth of color.
Danie & Ryan are humbled to receive this award, but cant take complete credit for it! They were able to recruit a large handful of other MN painting companies from around the state to volunteer their labor and time, roll up their sleeves, and complete a large interior project in 1 day for an important organization – 3 days before Christmas!
We are overjoyed to see their vision for the Black Youth Healing Arts Center come to life and be personalized – all with the POWER OF PAINT!
Love watching all the pieces, people, and companies come together to make this all possible!
We are as much excited as you for the Big Day on December 22nd! To witness this big project with a big transformation!
This project is also possible thanks to the support and sponsorship of Sherwin Williams who provided and donated the many gallons of paint and materials needed to freshen up the historic building which used to stand as a school in the St. Paul school district.
Some of the spaces that were a priority was the very large and highly used Gymnasium. It received a complete update with a painted ceiling along with parts of the gym floor, walls, and doors. We were also able to hand paint their logo in the middle of the space! Their main atrium was updated with black Chalkboard paint which will serve as a creative outlet for the kids to show off their artistic abilities and display welcoming art and messages. There was also a splash of Purple on the walls – one of their main brand colors to ties it all together! Lastly, the basement got a refresh of White on the ceilings and walls to “liven up” another frequently used space.
Another Shout out to Mary, Owner of Design Intervention MN, who donated her design and color consultation services to help their visions and needs come to life.
BYHAC still has a ways to go in their fundraising for their facility, but Headwaters was thrilled to help out with the POWER OF PAINT and the Paint it Forward Initiative!
